Mark D. Gross joined the CMU faculty in September 2004, after teaching at University of Washington (1999-2004) and University of Colorado (1990-1999). Before that he studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received a Ph.D. in Design Theory & Methods (1986) and B.S. in Architectural Design (1978). At MIT he worked in Nicholas Negroponte's Architecture Machine Group (before it expanded into the MIT Media Lab) and later at Seymour Papert's Logo group in the Artificial Intelligence Lab.
