Cellist is a system that creates music with a sketch gesture interface. We use numerical values of drawing characteristics by a pen on a digitizing tablet to determine how the musical notes would be played. The marks and acts of drawing created by the sketch gesture are translated as simple rules to represent music. Users of the system can hear the music they created as they sketch on a tablet. Their actions of this process is also recorded and represented as drawing marks on the screen.
