Formal Representations for Generation and Transformation in Design
    abstract:
This paper presents a formal notation, named ICE, for describing geometrical configurations. The notation is based on generative and relational structures and is developed in conjunction with a 3D modelling system. This paper focuses on the syntax and features of the notation. The notation in its capacity to specify the generation and transformation of shapes and complex configurations is illustrated through two architectural examples.
