"Rubbing is what you did as a child when you placed a
scrap of paper over a coin and brought up the coin's
design by covering the paper with pencil strokes. Using
different materials, this (ancient )technique can be
used to reproduce the relief design of any
surface."

This project seeks to make the invisible visible by allowing the user to sketch the structural components in a wall onto its surface. This is accomplished by combining the functionality of a studfinder with a mimio pen and projector.

The experience of using the StudSketch pen is like that of creating a rubbing. The projector and mimio acts as the paper on the surface of the wall and the StudSketch pen is rubbed over its surface to capture the underlying structure.
