CoDe Lab in Music and VIA New Media Festival

The Bike Orchestra: Graduate students from Carnegie Mellon’s CoDe Lab built a series of music generating structures, including a bike, a seesaw, that control a digital orchestra for the 2011 VIA Music Festival. All of the structures have built in sensors to sense their speed, power generated and other variables. These variables control the tone, pitch, brightness and other properties of sounds and lights that are powered by the structures. The faster you pedal, the harder you play, the faster, brighter, and more dynamic the digital orchestra will be! For more information, please visit the project website.
