Gesture Modeling

(past projects)

A framework for manual 3d input - gesture modeling

People use hand gestures to describe 3 dimensional forms. The air sculpture system enables designers to provide 3 dimensional input using hand motions and gestures. In current 3d design software, designers control a 2d screen pointer, and use buttons and commands to specify three dimensional structure.

The air sculpture system enables gestural 3d input using one or two hands and 2 video cameras to control a 3d pointer in model space. Modeling actions such as'carve away at a solid,' 'rotate an object', could be invoked by gesture in a natural 3D direct manipulation, or air-sculpting.
