Voice XML

Voice XML

(wearables)

This is a simple proof of concept project to see how Voice XML could be integrated into our Home 2020 booth. The idea is that most everyone has a mobile phone, and we could leverage that fact to allow people to interact with the booth. Visitors could call up our "2020" number to control aspects of the house, hear more about projects, or even leave voicemail for the future!

Since Voice XML is used to run some of the largest call-centers, It's a reasonable to think that we can get a service provider to help us deploy it during carnival free. Setting up the service is fairly simple, and we can include any sound files we might want.

The demo simply takes a color from the user, and sets a variable on a server. A simple flash movie reads this variable and updates the color in a web browser. During the class demo we saw that many people can call in at once to share control of a single resource.
