We have built a set of active window louvers. They respond both to directed voice commands and respond automatically to environmental changes. The homeowner can say "Window, close a little" to shut the blinds a bit. She can say "open all the way" to let in the breeze. In addition to overt actions, the window automatically responds to temperature and light variations. They can be programmed to open during the day and close during the night. In addition, if it ever gets too cold outside, the window will proactively seal off the home from the outside environment.
